John Wayne Airport (SNA) enforces a strict no-smoking policy indoors across the Thomas F. Riley Terminal (Terminals A, B, and C), prohibiting cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and vaping devices in all areas, including gates, restrooms, and dining spaces. California law also bans smoking within 20 feet of terminal entrances, exits, windows, or air intakes to maintain clean air.

Where to Smoke:

Outdoor Zones: Designated smoking areas are located outside the terminal, beyond the 20-foot boundary, near curbside pick-up/drop-off areas on the departures (upper) and arrivals (lower)

levels. Key spots include:

  • Terminal A: Near the baggage claim exit, outside Door A-1.
  • Terminal B: Near the ticketing area, outside Door B-2.
  • Terminal C: Near the parking garage exit, outside Door C-3.

These areas are marked with “Smoking Area” signs and equipped with ashtrays. There are no confirmed indoor smoking facilities at SNA, despite older reports suggesting one may have existed.
