Airport (IND) is dedicated to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, which is why it enforces a 100% smoke-free indoor policy. Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are strictly prohibited inside the terminal, including ticketing areas, security zones, waiting lounges, restrooms, and restaurants. This policy aligns with Indiana’s public health laws and supports a comfortable experience for all passengers.
Where You Can Smoke – Outdoor Areas Only:
If you need to smoke, IND provides designated outdoor smoking zones located pre-security outside the terminal. These areas are placed a safe distance away from all entrances, exits, and air vents to minimize exposure to secondhand smoke.
Smoking zones are available along the curbside on both the departures and arrivals levels. They are clearly marked and equipped with ashtrays to encourage responsible disposal.
Additional Notes:
There are no indoor smoking lounges or post-security smoking options at IND.
If you leave the terminal to access the smoking area, be prepared to complete TSA screening again to return to your gate—so plan accordingly.
Smoking in undesignated areas may result in fines or enforcement actions, as outlined by airport regulations.
Indianapolis International Airport appreciates your cooperation in following its smoke-free guidelines and using only approved outdoor zones. Your respect for these policies helps create a cleaner, safer airport for everyone.
