Smoking Area at Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Enforces a strict no-smoking policy indoors across its main terminal and five concourses (A, B, C, D, E), including gates, dining areas, restrooms, lounges, and public spaces, per Maryland’s Clean Indoor Air Act. This covers cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and all tobacco products.

Smoking is permitted only in designated areas on the outer curb (center island) of the upper (Departures) and lower (Arrivals) level roadways, at least 25 feet from entrances. These zones are marked with signs and equipped with ashtrays for proper disposal.

No Airside or Indoor Facilities: BWI has no indoor smoking lounges or post-security smoking areas. The Club BWI lounge in Concourse D and other airline lounges (e.g., USO Lounge) are smoke-free.

Re-Entry: Smokers must exit to outdoor zones across the roadway and re-enter via TSA screening (15–30 minutes during peak times). International passengers must clear customs before exiting.
