Smoking area at Daniel K. Inouye Airport (HNL)

Airport (HNL) in Honolulu follows Hawaii’s strict smoke-free policies, prohibiting smoking and vaping inside all terminal buildings, including gates, restrooms, shops, and dining areas. This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and all vaping devices.

Designated Outdoor Smoking Areas – Pre-Security Only:

Smoking is allowed only in outdoor designated zones located outside the terminal buildings, before passing through security. These areas are placed at least 20 feet away from entrances and ventilation systems, in accordance with Hawaii state law.

Terminals 1 and 2: Smoking areas are available near the curbside along the ticketing and baggage claim levels, clearly marked with signs and equipped with ashtrays.

Important Reminders:

There are no indoor or post-security smoking lounges at HNL.

If you exit the secure area to smoke, you must go through TSA screening again.

Smoking in unauthorized areas may result in fines or penalties.

HNL appreciates your cooperation in maintaining a clean, safe, and smoke-free environment for all travelers.
