Airport (OGG), the main airport on the island of Maui, upholds Hawaii’s strong commitment to public health by enforcing a completely smoke-free indoor environment. Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vape devices, is strictly banned inside all terminal facilities, from ticketing counters to boarding gates, restrooms, and dining areas.

Where You Can Smoke – Outdoor Zones Only:

  • For travelers who smoke, OGG provides clearly designated outdoor smoking areas, accessible only before security. These zones are carefully placed at least 20 feet away from terminal entrances and air ventilation systems, in accordance with Hawaii’s Smoke-Free Law.
  • Smoking areas are located near the curbside of both arrivals and departures areas.
  • Each zone is marked with clear signage and features ashtrays to ensure responsible disposal and keep the airport surroundings clean.

Good to Know:

There are no indoor or post-security smoking lounges at Kahului Airport.

If you leave the secure area to access the smoking zone, you’ll be required to go through TSA screening again—so be sure to allow enough time, especially during busy travel periods.

Smoking in unauthorized areas may lead to penalties or removal from airport property under state and airport regulations.

Kahului Airport appreciates your cooperation in respecting its smoke-free policy and helping to preserve Maui’s clean air and natural beauty. By using the designated zones, you contribute to a more pleasant experience for all travelers.
