Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) is committed to offering travelers a clean and healthy atmosphere by maintaining a fully smoke-free interior. Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are strictly prohibited indoors across both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, including gate areas, restrooms, and all dining and shopping zones.

Outdoor Smoking Zones – Pre-Security Access Only:

For those who smoke, MSP provides designated outdoor smoking areas, located outside the terminal buildings before security checkpoints. These spots are clearly marked, positioned a minimum of 25 feet from all entrances and ventilation systems, and include ashtrays to support proper disposal and cleanliness.

Terminal 1 (Lindbergh Terminal):

Outdoor smoking areas can be found near the ticketing level and baggage claim level, along the curbside sidewalks.

Terminal 2 (Humphrey Terminal):

Smoking zones are available near the ground transportation area, with easy access from the terminal entrance.

There are no indoor smoking lounges or post-security smoking areas at MSP.

If you exit the terminal to access the smoking zones, you’ll be required to pass through TSA security again to reach your gate—make sure to allow extra time.

Smoking outside of marked areas is not allowed and may lead to fines or enforcement actions under local laws and airport policies.

MSP asks all passengers to respect its smoke-free policy and use only the approved outdoor areas. Your cooperation helps ensure a safer, cleaner airport experience for everyone.
