Proudly enforces a 100% smoke-free environment inside all terminal buildings. This includes Concourses B and C, restaurants, restrooms, waiting lounges, and all other indoor areas. The ban extends to traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and all vaping products in compliance with Nevada’s Clean Indoor Air Act. Additionally, smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of any terminal doorway, window, or air intake, helping maintain fresh air for all travelers and staff.

Smoking Areas at Reno–Tahoe Airport (RNO)

Outdoor Smoking Zone: For those who wish to smoke, RNO provides a clearly marked outdoor smoking area. It is located outside the terminal, past the 25-foot buffer zone, between the main entrance and Baggage Claim Door A on the arrivals level. The area is easy to spot with a “Smoking Area” sign and contains ashtrays for responsible waste disposal.

  • No Indoor Smoking Lounges: There are no indoor smoking facilities at RNO, in line with state regulations designed to protect public health.
  • Re-Entry Reminder: If you exit the secure area to smoke, you will be required to go through TSA screening again. Plan for an additional 15–20 minutes, particularly if you’re on a tight layover.

Penalties for Non-Compliance: Smoking in prohibited areas, especially within the restricted 25-foot zone, may result in fines starting at $25, with increased penalties for repeat offenses under local ordinances.

Help Keep RNO Clean: Please use the designated ashtrays to dispose of cigarette waste and help keep the airport grounds clean and welcoming for all.

Reno–Tahoe International Airport combines the warmth of Sierra Nevada hospitality with a commitment to a clean and healthy travel experience. While the terminal is fully smoke-free, the outdoor zone offers a designated space for smokers. Thank you for following the rules and contributing to a more pleasant environment. Safe travels!
