Smoking area at Kansas City Airport (MCI)

Airport (MCI) enforces a strict no-smoking policy inside all terminal facilities, including restrooms, gate areas, shops, and restaurants. The ban includes traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and all vaping products, in accordance with Missouri state law and local health regulations.

Outdoor Smoking Zones – Pre-Security Only:

Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas located outside the terminal, before TSA security. These areas are set a safe distance away from entrances and ventilation systems, helping to protect non-smokers and maintain air quality.

The airport’s new single terminal features clearly marked smoking sections along the curbside of the arrivals and departures areas, equipped with ashtrays for proper disposal.

Please Note:

MCI does not offer indoor or post-security smoking lounges.

If you exit the secure area to smoke, be prepared to complete TSA screening again before returning to your gate.

Smoking in undesignated locations may lead to fines or enforcement actions.

Kansas City International encourages all passengers to use the provided smoking zones and help keep the airport welcoming and clean for all travelers.
