Logan International Airport (BOS) upholds a comprehensive indoor smoking ban, prohibiting the use of cigarettes, vapes, and e-cigarettes inside all terminals, including lounges, restrooms, and dining areas, in accordance with Massachusetts law.

Dedicated Outdoor Smoking Zones:
Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas located pre-security, outside the terminal buildings. These zones follow state requirements and are positioned at least 25 feet away from entrances and air intakes, helping to maintain clean air for all travelers. Most are located near the curbside on both arrivals and departures levels.
Key Smoking Locations by Terminal:
- Terminal A:
First Floor: Near Gate A106 (by Baggage Claim A4, shuttle exit) and Gate A102 (near Baggage Claim A1).
Second Floor: Near Gate A204 (by Conveyance) and Gate A201.
- Terminal B:
First Floor: Outside near Gate B117, close to the pet relief area, Smarte Cafe, and Baggage Claim B10.
- Terminal C:
Accessible via a secure walkway from Terminal E for international travelers. Curbside smoking areas here are limited.
- Terminal E:
Available at pre-security curbside areas on both arrivals and departures levels. No smoking zones are assigned to specific gates.
No indoor smoking lounges are available at BOS.
If you step outside to smoke, you’ll need to pass through TSA security again before returning to your gate—allow extra time.
Smoking outside of designated zones may lead to fines or removal from airport premises.
Logan International encourages travelers to use these outdoor smoking zones respectfully and dispose of waste in provided ashtrays to help keep the airport clean and pleasant for all.
