Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is committed to maintaining a completely smoke-free indoor environment. Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are strictly prohibited inside all terminals, including restrooms, dining areas, and airline lounges. This policy aligns with Washington State’s Clean Indoor Air Act.

Smoking Policy at Seattle–Tacoma Airport

Designated Outdoor Smoking Zones:

  • Smoking is allowed only in two clearly designated outdoor areas at the Main Terminal, pre-security, offering accessibility while ensuring compliance with health regulations:
  • North End of Lower Drive: Located adjacent to the stairway across from the small parking lot near Door 00, in the Baggage Claim zone.
  • South End of Lower Drive: Positioned near Door 5 and Door 29, within close reach of check-in counters and terminal access points.

Both zones are open 24/7, clearly marked with signage, and equipped with ashtrays to support proper disposal and maintain a clean space. Smoking is not allowed within 25 feet of any entrance, window, or air ventilation intake, helping protect travelers and staff from secondhand smoke.

Important Information:

  • SEA offers no indoor or airside smoking facilities.
  • All post-security areas and airline lounges, including the Alaska Lounge, Delta Sky Club, and The Club at SEA, are entirely smoke-free.
  • While duty-free shops may sell tobacco products, use is restricted to the designated outdoor areas only.

SEA appreciates your cooperation in keeping the airport clean and smoke-free. Please plan accordingly and use only approved zones if you need to smoke.
